Terms of Service
Last updated: August 10, 2026
1. Agreement to These Terms
These Terms of Service (the "Terms") govern your access to and use of Personhood, including our website at givepersonhood.com, our web application, our REST API, and our hosted Model Context Protocol (MCP) endpoint (together, the "Service"). The Service is operated by Astral AI Inc. ("Personhood", "we", "us", or "our").
By creating an account or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy, which is part of this agreement. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service. And if you are using it for an organization, you confirm that you are authorized to accept these Terms on its behalf.
2. The Service
Personhood is a text-humanization tool. You give it AI-generated text, and it rewrites that text to read more naturally, optionally in the voice of a persona you pick or create, while removing patterns that typically signal machine-generated writing. You submit text, choose how it is processed, and the Service returns the rewritten result. We offer these features through the web application, the API, and the MCP endpoint, and they may change over time.
3. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority in your jurisdiction, to use the Service. By using the Service you represent that you meet this requirement and that you are not barred from using it under applicable law.
4. Accounts and API Keys
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and API keys, and for all activity that occurs under them. API keys grant access to your account and its credit balance; treat them like passwords, do not share them, and do not embed them in client-side or public code. Notify us promptly if you believe your credentials or keys have been compromised. You must provide accurate account information and keep it current.
5. Your Content
"Your Content" means the text, writing samples, instructions, and other materials you submit to the Service, together with the output the Service generates for you. As between you and Personhood, you retain all rights you hold in Your Content. You are solely responsible for Your Content and for ensuring you have the necessary rights to submit it and to use the output.
You grant Personhood a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide license to host, process, transmit, and display Your Content solely to operate and provide the Service to you, including sending it to the third-party AI providers described in our Privacy Policy. We do not use the text you submit to train our own models, and we select AI providers and configurations that, to the extent they offer it, prevent your submitted content from being used to train their models.
6. AI-Generated Output
The Service uses automated language models. Output may be inaccurate, incomplete, or unsuitable for your purpose, and identical requests may produce different results. You are responsible for reviewing and deciding how to use any output. We make no guarantee that output will pass, evade, or defeat any AI-detection system, plagiarism checker, or similar tool, and any references to reducing machine-generated patterns are descriptions of the tool's behavior, not a warranty of any outcome.
You must not represent Personhood's output as human-authored where doing so would be deceptive or unlawful, or use it to misrepresent authorship in violation of the rules of any institution, platform, or applicable law. You are solely responsible for ensuring your use of the output complies with all applicable academic-integrity policies, institutional and employer rules, third-party platform terms, and laws. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not responsible if output is detected as AI-generated or flagged by any detection or plagiarism system, or for any academic, professional, legal, or other consequences arising from your use of the output.
7. Acceptable Use
You agree not to use the Service to:
- generate or distribute unlawful, infringing, defamatory, or fraudulent content, or content that violates the rights of others;
- facilitate deception where prohibited, including academic dishonesty, impersonation, or misrepresentation of authorship in violation of applicable rules or law;
- produce spam, malware, or content intended to harass, abuse, or harm others;
- attempt to disrupt, overload, reverse-engineer, or gain unauthorized access to the Service or its underlying systems;
- circumvent, disable, or interfere with usage limits, metering, rate limits, or billing;
- use the Service, its models, or its output to develop or train a competing AI or machine-learning model or product; or
- resell, sublicense, or provide the Service to third parties except as expressly permitted.
We may investigate suspected violations and may restrict, suspend, or terminate access for conduct we reasonably believe violates these Terms or harms the Service, other users, or third parties.
8. Prepaid Credits and Payment
Metered features of the Service operate on a prepaid credit model. Credits are purchased in advance and consumed as you use those features; the amount consumed depends on your usage, including the length of your text and the processing performed. Payments are handled by our third-party payment processor, Stripe, and by purchasing credits you also agree to Stripe's applicable terms. We do not receive or store your full card details.
Except where a refund is required by applicable law, credits are non-refundable once purchased, have no cash value, and are non-transferable. Prices, and the amount of usage each credit covers, may change over time; we apply the pricing in effect at the time credits are consumed. We may place reasonable limits on purchases and usage to prevent abuse. You are responsible for any taxes associated with your purchases, other than taxes on our income.
9. Custom Personas
The Service lets you create custom personas from writing samples you provide. You represent that you have the right to submit those samples and to have a persona derived from them. Custom personas you create are available to your account; you are responsible for the samples you upload and for how you use the resulting personas.
10. Intellectual Property
The Service, including its software, models, prompts, design, and content (excluding Your Content), and all related intellectual property, are owned by Personhood or its licensors and are protected by law. These Terms grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable right to use the Service in accordance with them. We reserve all rights not expressly granted. You may not use our names, logos, or trademarks without our prior written permission.
If you send us feedback, suggestions, or ideas about the Service, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free, perpetual, irrevocable license to use them for any purpose without obligation or compensation to you.
11. Third-Party Services
The Service relies on third-party providers, including for authentication and data storage, payment processing, AI text generation, hosting, and analytics. These providers process data under their own terms and privacy practices, as described in our Privacy Policy. We are not responsible for third-party services, and your use of them may be subject to their terms.
12. Disclaimers
The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, error-free, or that output will be accurate or meet your requirements.
13. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Personhood and its operators, officers, employees, and suppliers will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenues, data, or goodwill, arising out of or relating to your use of or inability to use the Service, even if advised of the possibility of such damages. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for all claims relating to the Service will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us for the Service in the three months preceding the event giving rise to the claim, or USD 100.
14. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Personhood and its operators from and against any claims, damages, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or related to Your Content, your use of the Service, or your violation of these Terms or of any law or third-party right.
15. Suspension and Termination
You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access, with or without notice, if you violate these Terms, if required by law, or to protect the Service or others. On termination, the rights granted to you under these Terms will end, and sections that by their nature should survive (including ownership, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and indemnification) will survive.
You may delete your account from your account settings. Deleting your account ends your access immediately, and any unused credits are forfeited without refund. For 30 days after deletion you may recover your account by emailing support@givepersonhood.com.
16. Changes to the Service and These Terms
We may modify or discontinue features of the Service at any time. We may also update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, provide additional notice. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
17. Governing Law and Disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. You agree that the state and federal courts located in California will have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service, except that either party may seek injunctive relief in any court of competent jurisdiction.
